Italian DJ, producer and radio host Massimo Voci makes a welcome return to Eskimo Recordings with a brand new masterclass in club music, Música Electrónica. Every now and then a track comes along where you can hear the decades of experience behind the decks that have gone into it and Música Electrónica is a case in point as Massimo raids his record collection for inspiration and in doing so delivers something fresh for today.
"The idea was to create a track with the raw and infectious energy of 90s house, enriched with colors and textures inspired by 80s synths," Massimo explains. "The construction, however, goes even further back to the ’70s: cowbell, kick and snare as the essential foundation, layered with a pulsating synth bass and vocals. The result is a bridge between different eras, designed to ignite today’s dancefloor."
With its nods to the raw house sounds of tracks by the likes of Lil Louis or Paperclip People, the Italo Disco of his native country, and even a bit of Latin Freestyle for good measure, Música Electrónica delivers on its promise. From the moment you feel its first heavily reverbed kick drum deep in your chest, you know this is club music that has been fine tuned to move the dancefloor through the gears like some high performance Italian sports car and to do it in style.
